And, we’re not done yet, setting you up for success! I have a final, critical bonus tip. As Allen Iverson once famously said, “Practice? I’m talking about practice!”
BONUS TIP: PRACTICE, EVALUATE, APPLY, AND REPEAT.
The job search process, and job interviews, can be uncomfortable and sometimes weird. Don’t beat yourself up, as they can improve.
- PRACTICE. Practice makes perfect. Practice both of your elevator pitches until they flow naturally.
- EVALUATE. I’ve rarely seen a perfect interview. Evaluating your performance after each interview can help you identify what went right, and what went wrong. Use what you learn to improve your future efforts.
- APPLY. It’s not enough to learn what went right or wrong, make sure you implement it too!
- REPEAT until you get a job. Don’t hold out for a perfect job, as sometimes it’s easier to get a new job once you are already working.
I can’t guarantee using these strategies will work magic, but they should help. Good luck in your job search! If you can’t find the job you want, then hire yourself! Check out my book for a game plan of how to do that.
